The 17th annual event by the Human Rights Council is 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Walters Cultural Arts Center in Hillsboro. It is free and open to the public.

The president of the Urban League of Portland will give keynote remarks at the King Day celebration sponsored by the Human Rights Council of Washington County.

The celebration is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 E. Main St., Hillsboro. The event is free and the public is invited.

Urban League chief executive Nkenge Harmon Johnson will give the main talk at the celebration, which will be the council's 17th annual commemoration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A panel will discuss immigrant and refugee experiences in Oregon.

West African dance troupe Kúkátónón will perform.
