COURTESY PHOTO: WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - The scene of a hit and run Saturday, Feb. 1, where a man was struck by a car while retrieving mail from his mailbox.An 81-year-old man was injured in a hit-and-run crash near Forest Grove on Saturday, Feb. 1, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

About 3:15 p.m., deputies responded to a hit-and-run crash in the 6900 block of Northwest Kansas City Road, north of the city of Forest Grove.

They learned that the man who reported the incident was getting the mail from his mailbox when a car left the road and struck him. The victim's name was not released.

"The impact spun the man around and threw him into a ditch," read a statement from the Sheriff's Office. "He suffered a knee injury as a result of being hit."

Deputies are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver and the vehicle involved in the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact deputies at 503-629-0111.
