Gaston Road is closing between Spring Hill Road and Highway 47 for bridge replacement.

Gaston Road will be closing for bridge replacement beginning Aug. 24, and will remain closed through Nov. 30.

The bridge over Wapato Creek between Spring Hill Road and Highway 47, which was built in 1958, was weight-limited in June 2016 due to timber structure decay. The new concrete bridge will be wider and built to current safety and environmental standards.

In addition to the structure replacement, a section of the water line will be replaced in coordination with L.A. Water Cooperative.

During the closure, traffic going to and from Gaston on Gaston Road will be detoured to Spring Hill Road and Highway 47.

The project is estimated to cost $1.4 million and is being funded through Oregon House Bill 2017 Transportation Funding Package.
