Tis the season.
The 2020-21 leaf pickup program is slated to begin service Sunday, Oct. 25, starting with the east side of Forest Grove and migrating throughout the city on a weekly basis.
The City is requesting that citizens please adhere to the scheduled dates in order to prevent obstructing streets and curbsides with piles of leaves. A copy of the pickup schedule was included with October utility bills and is available online at HYPERLINK "http://www.forestgrove-or.gov" www.forestgrove-or.gov. There's also an interactive map available for residents on the City's website.
In addition, the city is offering a central leaf drop-off location for residents at the east end of 22nd Avenue, east of Yew Street on the following Saturdays between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.: November 21, December 5, and December 19.
The leaf pick-up program is funded by the surface water fees collected through the utility bills. The purpose of the leaf pick-up is to prevent leaves from clogging the storm drain system and causing flooding and/or other maintenance problems.
The City is reminding residents that piles of leaves in the street are tempting to young kids to play in and motorists to drive through, and due to such are asking parents to please inform their children of the dangers of playing in or around roadways at all times, and encourage street smarts and safety with their families and neighbors. They're also urging drivers not to drive through piles of leaves.
Further questions regarding the leaf pickup program or drop-off site, can be directed to the Forest Grove Public Works Department at 503-992-3258.
