City councilor backs Rask for Hillsboro School Board
As a Cornelius City Council member, former mayor and City Council president, I feel that our goal sessions and recommendations to our city manager are very important.
I strongly recommend Bart Rask to the Hillsboro School Board as he is familiar with the importance of goal sessions to make recommendations to the superintendent. He has six of his children enrolled in the Hillsboro Public Schools and is aware of many problems that the Hillsboro Public Schools face. He is willing to listen to the public and the school teachers about the size of their classrooms. By cutting some costs, he is willing to see a better future in the Hillsboro Public School system.
I strongly recommend Bart Rask for a position on the Hillsboro School Board.
Steve Heinrich, Cornelius City Councilor
Former student, patient of Rask backs his candidacy
I would like to express my excitement about one of the candidates running for the Hillsboro School Board.
My name is Nick Salzman, a Hillsboro local and graduate of Hillsboro High School (2002). I was a student athlete competing in Hillsboro's long tradition of football and wrestling.
I first crossed paths with candidate Bart Rask on the sidelines of the varsity football games at Hare Field on Friday nights. He was always there to help in any way he could, not just for our team, but for any player that stepped foot on that field. I didn't know at the time he was an orthopedic surgeon or that he would be the one that performed my surgery in the near future, but I'm very thankful that he did.
Surgery went well, followed by a fast recovery, which allowed me to perform my best in athletics once again.
Today, I am currently still involved with athletics at Hillsboro as I am the current president for Hilhi youth football and the head coach of Hillsboro mat club with my legs still going strong. I also am a business owner in downtown Hillsboro's Breaking Ink Tattoo.
Bart Rask was there for me then, as he was for countless other kids that grew up through the Hillsboro school system. When I saw he was running for a position on the school board, I thought, "Finally, someone who knows what we need in our schools." With the amount of years he's been in service to the people of Hillsboro, I know he gets it.
Having a sixth- and seventh-grader in the system, this is very important to me.
I trusted him then and I trust him still. There is an amazing opportunity to help this community when you have people like Bart step up to the plate and go to bat for us.
Thank you for your time and for reading this.
Nick Salzman, Hillsboro
Grandusky has proven herself for another term in FGSD
I support Kate Grandusky's election to serve another term on the Forest Grove School Board. Kate has shown herself to be honest, knowledgeable, and caring in her service to Forest Grove schools, and as a past teacher brings to the board experience and expertise critical to making the best decisions for families and their children.
Kate has shown remarkable courage in making hard budget, administrative and staffing choices in an environment of massive disinvestment in education. She always keeps in mind how we can best serve our most valued community asset: children.
Kate Grandusky gets my vote for the school board because I can trust her to make decisions that best serve the needs of Forest Grove. She has worked well for us in the past and will do so in the future.

Rask's dedication, outsider credentials make him top choice
As a former School Board member, I'm writing to encourage my Hillsboro neighbors to vote for Bart Rask for School Board. His personal qualifications are amazing — somehow, he's managed to juggle a successful medical career (where I know him as a grateful patient) with raising six children, and still has squeezed in time to volunteer with the schools.
In addition, an important fact to consider is that he is the only candidate not unanimously endorsed by sitting board members. Ask yourself: Do we want the schools run by an insider clique without any hint of dissent, or do we want a contrary voice on the board who will ask tough questions and openly challenge the status quo? Even if (like me) you do not agree with Dr Rask on every issue, I think this factor is critically important.
Thus, please join me in endorsing and voting for Bart Rask for the Hillsboro School Board.

FGSD board member supporting Rask in HSD
It gives me great pleasure to be able to endorse Dr. Bart Rask for Position 4 on the Hillsboro School Board. I have always been impressed by his visionary, no nonsense straight-forward approach to leadership. He has a great concern for the greater good.
I have sat through town hall meetings with Bart and had several conversations with him and have been impressed with his knowledge of the issues and his eagerness to improve the schools. Bart understands the complexities and the challenges of the school system and has the dedication and understanding to tackle problems and find solutions where they are most needed. Bart has children in the schools and has first-hand knowledge of what must be done to improve educational outcomes for all students.
Hillsboro School District citizens should support Bart Rask for School Board. He has the leadership, the experience, the vision, and the passion for education that Hillsboro needs.

Longtime Century wrestling coach endorses Rask
I have been a teacher and coach in the Hillsboro School District for the past 22 years and have worked directly with Dr. Bart Rask.
Everyone in our community has noticed the struggles that go in our educational system and constant increase in behavioral issues. I believe Dr. Bart Rask is the best person to represent our community on the Hillsboro School Board and will do what is best for the students. He will help teachers get support on the big issues in the classrooms and understands the business side to help with align attainable goals between the district and schools.
Dr. Bart Rask is of highest ethics and moral values that I would encourage every voter in the Hillsboro community to vote for Dr. Bart Rask.

Kim understands HSD students' needs
To improve Hillsboro schools, we need to invest in our most vulnerable students. I am confident that See Eun Kim has the passion and experience to create a system that cares for all children, regardless of the obstacles they face.
As a court-appointed special advocate, See Eun understands that not every student has a home life that is conducive to learning. Sometimes, that trauma is brought into the classroom and disrupts learning for those students and their classmates. See Eun will work to ensure that our teachers have the tools they need to support students in crisis by expanding trauma-informed care for teachers and vital support staff.
In the midst of this housing crisis, Hillsboro has seen the number of homeless students increase three years in a row. These students need additional support to reach graduation career- or college-ready. See Eun supports school-based health centers that ensure these students receive the physical and mental health care they need to overcome the turmoil of housing instability.
See Eun sees the struggles our students face and will prioritize systems that help students overcome barriers. Join me in voting for See Eun Kim for the Hillsboro School Board on May 21.
