Democrats have led Oregon astray

"Americans will always do the right thing … after they've exhausted all other possibilities."

Whoever may have first said this, it's a quote Oregonians should take to heart.

We Oregonians live in a state with abundant beautiful natural resources. I bought my first and only home in Oregon 23 years ago — a house equipped primarily with electric appliances because the cost of electricity was so low in Oregon. The MAX train was reliable and clean, and downtown Portland was one of the most walkable, clean and safe cities I'd ever experienced — full of eclectic eateries, bars and shops I was proud to show off to my out-of-state friends. It was the perfect place to raise and educate our daughter.

Today, we have devastating wildfires due to mismanagement of our forests. Our kids no longer need to learn basic skills in reading, writing and math to graduate high school. Water-generated electricity is through the roof since water has been relabeled a non-renewable resource and our power grid is unreliable. One hundred nights of riots and out-of-control crime have reduced Portland to a boarded-up, graffiti-laden battle-zone, and the MAX is filthy, to be used at your own risk, with a stark view of homeless encampments all the way to Portland International Airport — and you don't dare take that journey from the suburbs to the airport at night.

What happened?

For far too long, Oregon has been misgoverned by progressive Democrats. Kate Brown is nationally known as America's worst governor, Ted Wheeler marched with the rioters who destroyed downtown Portland, and George Soros-backed Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt? [Ed.: Soros is not listed among donors to Schmidt's 2020 campaign for district attorney, according to the Oregon secretary of state's website.] Let's just say with Democrats in charge of law and order, we have no law and order.

In other words, as former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently said: "Oregon has exhausted all other possibilities."

Reelect Janeen Sollman as state senator

I have followed Janeen Sollman for many years, first as my state representative and now as state senator.

I have observed a woman who is very involved with the community with enormous energy. Her stance on education, compassion for people, and the environment are what is good for our state.

Her family's military background provides an understanding of what veterans have gone through. As a Vietnam veteran, I feel so respected by her. Other veterans I have talked with feel the same way.

Janeen Sollman is a tireless leader, connected to her constituents, and is such a good person. She is my choice for state senator.
