NEWS-TIMES FILE PHOTO: Chase AllgoodThe Forest Grove Lions Club's biggest fundraiser of the year — the Run & Walk for Sight — begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. Proceeds help provide eyeglasses and hearing aids to people in need, both home and abroad. They also fund scholarships for students in Pacific University's optometry program and a range of other community organizations, from Habitat for Humanity to Theatre in the Grove. Held on the Pacific University campus, the event offers professionally timed 10K and 5k runs, a 5K fun walk and a "tot trot" for kids. Doherty Ford is sponsoring the event, which drew about 200 participants (left) and raised $7,000 last year. Registration is $30 adults, $25 students. Pre-register online at or up to 8:45 a.m. race day at Pacific.
