by: COURTESY PHOTO - Get as close as possible to Casablance without leaving Forest Grove this Saturday. Ever wanted to visit Rick’s Café Américain in Casablanca? Forest Grove High School will get attendees of its annual fundraiser as close as possible to exotic Morocco, more than 6,000 miles away, without leaving Forest Grove.

The high school’s musicians are presenting “Play it Again,” Saturday, May 10, at the school, 1401 Nichols Lane.

The high school’s commons will be transformed into Rick’s Café Américain, made famous by the movie “Casablanca.”

It’s all part of a festive evening of dancing, appetizers and desserts as well as a silent auction aimed at raising awareness of and financial support for the FGHS music program.

Student musicians, including the school’s bands and choirs, will entertain the crowd from 7 to 9:30 p.m. with music from the 1930s and beyond.

Free Foxtrot and Waltz lessons will be offered from 6 to 6:45 p.m.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. They can be purchased from a music department student or through the high school. Call 503-359-2432 for more information.

“Without it we would not be able to do what we are able to do for our students,” said Leonard Oswalt, FGHS’s band and orchestra director. “From helping with honor groups fees to fixing school instruments to buying new music.”

Light snacks and desserts will also be available.
