A doubleheader alpaca show will take place on the weekend in Portland at the EXPO.

PHOTO COURTESY OF COLUMBIA ALPACA BREEDERS ASSOCIATION - Throughout the weekend, artisans will showcase alpaca fiber and examples of felting and fiber arts. More than 200 alpacas will compete in Portland for a doubleheader alpaca event. The show will feature alpacas in the show ring competition, comprised of classes judging conformation and fleece quality in many categories for both Suri and Huacaya alpacas.

Every year, hundreds of alpacas and alpaca enthusiasts, as well as fiber art enthusiasts, gather for the Alpaca Association of Western Washington's Alpacapalooza, the Northwest's largest alpaca show.

This year, the shows have joined for one grand event under one roof at the Portland EXPO Center, 2060 N. Marine Drive. This doubleheader event will take place from May 11 to 13.

Friday, May 11: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 12: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sunday, May 13: 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, artisans will showcase alpaca fiber and examples of felting and fiber arts. Vendors and farm displays will sell the latest alpaca fashions and hand-crafted items.

Columbia Alpaca Breeders Association is a non-profit organization of alpaca breeders dedicated to supporting its members and to promoting public awareness of alpacas and their natural fiber. Columbia Alpaca Breeders Association is a regional affiliate of the national Alpaca Owners Association and is known for its Columbia Alpaca Breeders Association Classic halter and fleece show held in Portland every May. The association represent some of the nation's largest alpaca breeders, as well as some of the smallest and newest. The membership is comprised of industry leaders, hobby farmers, sustainable agriculture enthusiasts and fiber artists.
