Flynn Creek Circus coming to Newberg in August
Founded in 2002 as a rurally-based circus theater company out of Mendocino County Calif., the Flynn Creek Circus is coming to Newberg this fall featuring their all-new "Adrift" showcase, which includes circus artists from Brazil, France, Las Vegas and others.
According to Flynn Creek Circus' website, the troupe's mission is to "radically inspire audiences by demonstrating disciplined artistic and athletic risk." As a result, the circus has influenced the opening of several new arts programs in Mendocino County, including the Mendocino Center for Circus Arts and the Mendocino Dance Project.
This years "Adrift" showcase "features huge acrobatics like never before. A hilarious, all human, circus odyssey."
Performances will be held in a vintage big top tent Aug. 16-19 at Northside Community Church, 1800 Hoskins St. Attendees will see aerialists, jugglers, clowns and acrobats demonstrate their artistic disciplines. The show is appropriate for all ages.
Tickets and information are available online at www.flynncreekcircus.com. On the homepage, click on the Newberg performance link. Show times will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 16-17, 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 18 and 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 19.
Tickets may be purchased in advance online and are recommended to guarantee a seat. They are $12 for kids, $20 for seniors, students and veterans, and $27 for adults. There is a $3 fee for each ticket. Door price tickets, which begin Aug. 16, are $15 for kids, $25 for seniors, students and veterans at $32 for adults.
Special deals include:
- VIP front row seating available for $50 that includes popcorn or cotton candy, a drink and a souvenir program.
- An opening night special Aug. 16 is $22 for adults and $11 for kids.
- The Family Day special at 1p.m Aug. 19 has half-off tickets for kids with the purchase of an adult ticket. The offer does not apply to VIP tickets.
