Life is a cabaret for Bag&Baggage
For the first time ever, Bag&Baggage theater company is bringing Vaudeville-style burlesque to downtown Hillsboro's Vault Theater with a special one-night-only 21-and-over event, "Cabaret Variété," on Monday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
It is partnering up with Portland-based group Narcissa Productions, with performances by The Allegro Dance Company and burlesque duo Isaiah Esquire and Johnny Nuriel.
Audiences can expect to see vaudeville-style acts with a burlesque flavor, including singers, dancers, ballet performances, contortionists, and more.
"Portland's burlesque scene is one of the very best in the country, and Narcissa Productions is known as one of the best presenting organizations around," said Scott Palmer, B&B's Artistic Director. "Now that The Vault has become a hub of arts and performance activities, we are eager to expand the range of events we offer, and 'Cabaret Variété' is just another way to offer Hillsboro residents new arts experiences."
Esquire and Nuriel were featured on the reality show, "America's Got Talent" with their group Caravan of Glam.
Other performers include Ashley López of Beats Antique, bringing her Cirque du Soleil-esque contortion, Bevin Victoria of Sepiatonic, a singer, actor, and award-winning dancer and Carla Michelle of PDX Contemporary Ballet, a recent transplant from Brazil and award-winning ballet performer.
The event is also hosted by professional mermaid, Yl'luria Watersong, The Crystalline Siren.
Tickets are on sale now at bagnbaggage.org or calling the box office at (503)-345 9590, ext. 1.
The Vault Theater is located at 350 E. Main St., in Hillsboro.
