Bag&Baggage Productions announced that the theater will be cleaned daily as shows continue.

PMG FILE PHOTO - Performances by Bag&Baggage Productions will continue through fears of the coronavirus pandemic. Plans may change, but the company will clean the theater daily.

Many events and activities in the area are being canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but performances at the Vault Theatre in Hillsboro will continue as scheduled.

In a press release on Thursday, March 12, Bag&Baggage Productions stated that performances of Anya Pearson's "The Measure of Innocence" this weekend will continue as scheduled.

"There is no escaping the fact that our work, by its very nature, aims to gather large groups of people together for a shared experience, and our ability to safely do so is of the utmost concern," said artistic director Cassie Greer and managing director Beth Lewis in a statement from the theater company.

On Wednesday night, March 11, Gov. Kate Brown announced that gatherings of more than 250 people will be canceled for at least four weeks.

The sweeping action comes hours after Washington Gov. Jay Inslee announced a similar ban on large gatherings in the Seattle area. Unlike Inslee's decree, Brown's order covers the entire state.

"A gathering is defined as any event in a space in which appropriate social distancing of a minimum of three feet cannot be maintained," a statement from the governor's office added.

Bag&Baggage said the the Vault will be deep cleaned daily in preparation to host artists and audiences. Ushers and front of house and bar staff will be wearing gloves as they serve and assist people this weekend.

People can also exchange tickets for a future performance if they feel sick or do not want to risk spending prolonged time in public spaces.

"Because we want all of our patrons to be able to continue to have access to the arts, particularly in times of stress, we are exploring live-streaming options for the remainder of our work in the 2019-2020 season," the company added.

The upcoming season announcement on March 28 will be streamed on Facebook Live, and season tickets will be available for purchase online and over the phone throughout the month of April.

Bag&Baggage Productions plans to monitor the virus and announce any new developments as they become available.
