The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Last year's Metro League District Championships were a three team race between Aloha, Century and Westview, and this year's looked to be the same – and it was.

The Warriors again reigned supreme, defeating the Jaguars by 56 points and the Wildcats by 96 en route to a second straight district crown. Aloha finished with 328.5 points, while Century tallied 272.5 and Westview 232.5, followed by Beaverton 162.5, Liberty 153.5, Glencoe 137, Mountainside 105, Sunset 102.5 and Southridge with 89.

Aloha boasted four district champions, four seconds, one third, and five fourths, in all qualifying 14 wrestlers for the state tournament Feb. 16-17 at the Memorial Coliseum.

Century, while finishing an impressive second, qualified 10 wrestlers for state, including five district champions, two seconds, two thirds, and a fourth.

Josh Grant (160) and Adrian Rodriguez (182) won district titles for the second consecutive season, and this year they were joined by Tanner Morris at 113-pounds, sophomore Ernesto Alvarez at 138-pounds, and freshman Broderick Reese at 285-pounds. Richard Vasquez (120) was one of two second place finishers, coupled with Anthony Perez (220). In addition, Jeremy Beadle (138) and Loudyn Reese (170) finished third, while Uriel Rodriguez (126) placed fourth.

Glencoe qualified five wrestlers for state, including AJ Lucas (126) and David Stadelman (170) who placed second, Bryce Archer (145) and Sutton Yazzolino (152) who placed third, and sophomore Hunter Nakamoto (106) who finished fourth.

The OSAA 6A State Wrestling Championships will start Friday, Feb. 16, with the championship rounds being held Saturday evening Feb. 17.
