How to Choose a Cooling and Heating Contractor
Not all contractors are the same. Research may mean the difference between getting a solid, professionally installed air conditioner and just plain getting ripped off by two guys in a white van, working out of their garage. But don't let that turn you away - not all contractors are bad, many of us still do things the right way. Let's look at how to choose an HVAC contractor...
Do not get a phone estimate, the home needs to be checked for size and building material.
Be sure that the contractor is licensed by the State Contractors License Board and are insured and bonded.
You should get a written bid or estimate with the exact equipment to be installed, how and where it will be installed, and details of electrical requirements, disposal of the old equipment, etc.
Be careful about going with the lowest bidder…It may cost more in the long run; we are constantly fixing other company's botched jobs. Remember, "You Get What You Pay For."
Do research and then go with your instinct using the tips I showed you above, not just who is the cheapest. The company that installs your HVAC unit is more important than what type of unit you buy. We at Honke Heating & A/C have not forgotten how to do the job the right way, without taking shortcuts. We believe in customer service, and we stand by our workmanship. We are about efficiency, and no nonsense. Period. "Comfort You Can Trust" It isn't just a slogan, it is what we believe it, so give us a call or visit our website.
