Honke Heating and Air Conditioning

Not only is it the end of the summer and time to get ready for firing up your furnace, we have experienced poor air quality from the fires in our area. To protect the air in your home, change your air filters. Changing your air filter is the single most important thing you can do to maintain your furnace or air conditioning system. Changing your air filters will save you money, keep your family healthy, and help protect the environment. "How?" you ask.

1. As small particles begin to clog your air filter your system will work harder to compensate for the lack of airflow. An overheated system will eventually malfunction, requiring a costly visit from a service technician or even shorten the life span..

2. A dirty air filter will not remove dust, mold spores, pollen, dust mites, bacteria, pet dander and other contaminates from your house, causing severe health problems, especially for asthma or allergy sufferers.

3. Clean air filters allow your system to work more efficiently, using uses less power, releasing fewer greenhouse gasses and saving as much as 15 percent on your utility cost.

Remember to check the MERV (minimum efficiency reporting value) score when purchasing an air filter. A rating between 8 and 16 is preferable, the higher the better.

Give Honke Heating a call if you have any questions, to buy the appropriate filter or to schedule your fall maintenance.
