At last, after the havoc caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a vaccine has arrived in Oregon. The governor and the Oregon Health Authority have decided that frontline healthcare workers and support staff will be the first to receive vaccinations followed by residents and staff in care homes and then emergency medical personnel.

So, while it will be a while before most us will get our shots, we can see the light way down at the end of the tunnel. None of this would be possible without epidemiologist and lab workers who worked night and day to produce the vaccine or the volunteers who put their health on the line to participate in the vaccine trials.

Now we are seeing Federal Express and United parcel Service go above and beyond to deliver the vaccine to those who will receive it first. This is happening all over the world not just here in the U.S.

The dry ice industry has stepped up production to provide the ice to keep the vaccine at the required -70C. Most locations have the capability to keep the vaccine cold. In our area Linfield College in McMinnville is loaning their freezers to Yamhill County so the vaccine can be kept cold.

At Honke Heating and Air Conditioning, we would like to thank our loyal customers who made it possible for us to stay open and keep our staff employed in 2020. We look forward to the time when we can all be protected from the virus.
