Clean or replace the filter. A dirty filter will keep the warm air from circulating and your system from functioning at its best.
Clean the cold air return, the registers and the ducts. Dust and all those Legos and Barbie doll shoes that fell in the ducts will slow the warm air. The dust will also be circulated and will aggravate your allergies. Make sure the ducts are leak free while you are at it. Honke Heating can seal and insulate your ducts for you.
Check your foundation and siding, especially around windows for holes or cracks that are allowing the heat to escape. Repair them with caulk. Likewise check your interior windows and doors for leaks or gaps. Use weather stripping or caulk to plug those gaps. Use foam insulation behind the faceplates of outlets and switch plates to stop draughts.
Inspect your roof for damage and worn shingles or tiles that are allowing that warm air to escape. This can also cause leaks which will damage your home. Call your roofer if necessary.
