For most of us, working and making a living is just a normal every day thing. But for some, especially our younger generation, these skills have been missed and they end up struggling through and most times, end up is less than desirable circumstances. This is where My Father's House comes in to play!

My Father's House has provided transitional housing for homeless families, along with life skills training since 2001. And coming in 2020, they will break ground on their new Jobs Center that will include classrooms, a thrift store, a drive-through donation center, offices and a coffee shop. This Jobs Center will provide a safe environment with real-world job experience for much needed training in basic work ethics and skills.

My Father's House is committed to enabling those that come through their doors to be productive, self-sufficient members of society. Their programs stress responsible living and decision making. Their focus is on teaching and training, assisting and encouraging instead of a free handout. For many of these parents, it is their only opportunity for a chance to get back on their feet.

This nonprofit shelter is run exclusively by donations and receives no government funding so if you'd like to help, here's something fun for everyone!

Run for Shelter is a premier family friendly fundraiser for My Father's House. The event will include a fun run/walk, tomorrow April 6th, 9am-12pm at Good Shepherd Community Church, 28986 SE Haley Rd, Boring, OR. Sign up today and remember every dollar from this event goes to support homeless families in crisis. An individual is $25, family of 4 is just $40 or bring a team of 10 for $100. So, "Bling your Boots" and join us! It's going to be a great family fun event come rain or shine! For more information please go to and click on "Run for Shelter".
