Gresham United VFW Post 180 and it's sponsoring partner, Gresham Ford, are committed to helping veterans and especially the families of the deployed National Guard soldiers.

Last spring, Gresham Ford donated a $500.00 gift certificate to the  Gresham United VFW Post 180 for maintenance service on any make or model preformed at the Gresham Ford Quick Lane Service Center.

The Gresham VFW Post held a drawing on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2019 and the Grand Prize winner, post member Tom Bennett, donated the gift certificate to the deployed families of the Gresham Army National Guard unit, C Co. 2/162 Infantry. Bennett, a Navy Veteran said he could not think of a better use for the prize and it could not have come at a better time as a struggling family was in need of repairs on their vehicle.

Post Commander David Lowe, once a member of the Florida Army National Guard knows the difficulties of deployment.   "Having been in both the Guard and Reserves, I understand the difficulties families face on deployment", Lowe said.  Lowe was deployed to Iraq in 2006-2007.  "A soldier cannot adequately preform their mission if they know there are problems at home.  We, in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, want to take on the burden so the soldier can focus on the mission and return home safely."

Gresham United VFW Post 180 holds fundraisers throughout the year to meet the mission of supporting these families. If you'd like to donate, please send to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Gresham United Post 180, P.O. Box 281, Gresham, OR 97030.

Or, the next time you bring your vehicle for service at Gresham Ford, through their Contribute to the Community program, they'll send 10% up to $100 to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. All you have to do is ask!

We sincerely thank all of those who serve to keep us free and pray for their safe return!
