Extinct is Not an Option
The "Spirit of Christmas" Tree Lighting Ceremony was well attended and successful again this year. In addition, Eastside Theatre had a great run with "Frozen". This Fall the Football Season was marked with some spectacular classic rivalries and thrills. And the list just goes on and on…all of these were well attended and in the case of SnowCap, our neighbors are getting food boxes as we speak.
These LOCAL events and fund raisers would not have been nearly so successful without the support of the "Outlook". I come from a generation that loves the feel of newsprint in my hands and I understand that the internet is just a click away but it does not provide a consistent source of COMMUNITY NEWS. This would be a great loss if it becomes extinct!
Local Journalism is a place where we can get a true picture of the good and bad that is happening in our community. Where articles are vetted and you can see ads from local businesses all in one place – not to mention all the coupons and discounts held within. It is a place where a business can tell its story and the consumer will know that it is a real company that values local customers.
Our business has benefitted by advertising in the "Outlook" but more importantly the things we value, helping those in need and making our community a better place would be severely impacted if they did not have the print and online voice of Pamplin Media and the "Outlook". Of course I am preaching to the choir if you are reading this but take action…maybe you buy your kids a subscription or your employees. That is what we are doing this week, a subscription for Preston and paying half for any employee who wants one!
You count on us to stay informed and we depend on you to fund our efforts. Quality local journalism takes time and money. Please support us to protect the future of community journalism.
