The devastating Eagle Creek Fire was not able to overcome the efforts of fire crews battling to save the historic Multnomah Falls Lodge and the surrounding landscape.

PAMPLIN MEDIA GROUP: JOSH KULLA - Portland Fire and Rescue personnel relax for a moment Wednesday as they battle the ongoing Eagle Creek Fire, which increased to an estimated 31,000 acres in size as of Wednesday morning. The historic Multnomah Falls Lodge, however, was subject to intense firefighting efforts that were successful as the fire swept west toward Crown Point. Officials warn, however, that the fire is still zero percent contained. Media members were given a guided tour of Multnomah Falls Wednesday morning, at which time the first glimpses of the aftermath of the Eagle Creek Fire could be seen. While the fire is considered to be zero percent contained at present, firefighting efforts centered around saving the Multnomah Falls Lodge and visitor center were successful in doing so.
