TV star Dozer Dave Turin turns out to help SnowCap
Nationally recognized gold miner and television personality Dozer Dave Turin visited Gresham last week to help support a local charity.
On Thursday night, Nov. 16, Turin showed off his new Ford F550 mining truck and posed for photos with fans to raise money and collect non-perishable food for SnowCap Community Charities during its Fill-A-Bag campaign.
Turin, who starred in Discovery Channel's hit show "Gold Rush," was at Gresham Ford, 1999 E. Powell Blvd., which hosted the event.
For every person who took a photo with Turin, Gresham Ford donated $5 to SnowCap, which lets the nonprofit organization purchase 100 pounds of food. Wild Mike's Pizza served food, while Origins Coffee and Tea provided hot and cold drinks.
Many families came to see Turin, who took the time to chat with his fans. He also showed off a rare piece of gold that weighed 10.5 ounces, as gold chocolate coins were scattered around the room. The mining truck, developed with the help of Gresham Ford and Ed Golden of Golden Customs, was a popular sight.
SnowCap is the largest food pantry in East Multnomah County. Last year's Fill-A-Bag campaign raised the equivalent of 875,000 pounds of food for local families in need.
The campaign has multiple events scheduled to allow the community to give in fun and unique ways. The Outlook will preview those events as they approach.
