POLICE PHOTO - Jeanene BeckA Gresham woman who died in Lincoln City earlier this month appears to have drowned, according to an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner's Office.

Jeanene Beck was staying in a hotel room with her 23-year-old son on Thursday, Nov. 16, when she went outside to smoke a cigarette and never came back, reported KOIN 6 News, The Outlook's media partner.

The woman was found in a large channel that runs behind the Rodeway Inn at 1070 S.E. First Street. The canal flows into nearby Devil's Lake.

Local police say there is no evidence Beck died under suspicious circumstances, and relatives told KOIN she seemed in good spirits the night of her death.

Accident victim ID'd

The Gresham Police Department identified the victim in a fatal car accident on Southeast Division Street near 179th Avenue as Richard Etter, 55, of Portland.

Etter was killed about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21.

The drivers of the two vehicles involved in the crash, Shawn Rosengrant, 42, and Jose Martinez-Buenrrostro, 40, remained on scene and are cooperating with the investigation, Gresham police said.

No arrests or citations have been issued.

Join your neighbors for a volunteer event in Rockwood that will attempt to address the needs of the community.

The family friendly Clean Up & Cookies runs from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 2, beginning at the corner of Northeast 181st Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street in the Albertsons store parking lot.

The event will not only help clean up the streets for the holiday season, but also have volunteers delivering gift cookies to local seniors.

Those taking part are asked to bring store-bought cookies, which Clean Up Rockwood will deliver to seniors.
