Chat with Corbett Board members

In an effort to be more accessible to the public, the all-volunteer Corbett School Board will have one member available to talk with the public for 30 minutes before the start of every formal school board meeting.

The chats will start at 6:30 p.m. and the board will rotate the members so each will have a chance to talk with constituents. The board meets at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month, except March, in the high school cafeteria. The next board meetings are Dec. 20, Jan. 17 and Feb. 21.

The school is at 35800 E. Historic Columbia River Highway.

Teens knit

Kids in grades six and higher can work on knitting and crocheting crafts while hanging out with their friends at the Rockwood Library, from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.

Registration is required for the free stitch session. Rockwood Library is at 17917 S.E. Stark St. Call 503-988-5123 for more information.

Henna for teens

Raina Imig will present a hands-on cultural art program, sharing information on the art of henna in India and will create a small, authentic, intricate henna design on teens' hands.

Henna is used by many cultures as a form of artistic expression. Henna is not permanent, but it does temporarily stain the skin for about two weeks. The free workshop runs from 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Rockwood Library, 17917 S.E. Stark St. Call 503-988-5123 for more information.

Kids author book signing in Troutdale

Join Shalanda Sims, local actor and singer and author of children's book "Night Rhythms" will conduct a book signing at Troutdale Library, 2451 S.W. Cherry Park Road, from 4:30-5:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.
