Two harps valued at $8,000 were stolen from McMenamins Edgefield in October, police say.

POLICE PHOTO - The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office released these photos of the recovered harp on Tuesday, Jan. 30. An area musician has recovered one of two harps stolen in October from a car parked at McMenamins Edgefield, police say.

The plucky player scoured social media and online classified ads, waiting for any sign of the stolen instruments with a combined value of $8,000.

In late January, that bet paid off.

With help from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, detectives at the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office seized the harp from a reseller as evidence of stolen property. It was then returned to the harpist.

Lt. Marc Shrake, a spokesman for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, says no arrests were made when police recovered the instrument.

"It takes a bit more digging to prove whether they were involved with that — if they knew the harp was stolen when it came into their possession," he explained. "Sometimes these things pass hands, and the people don't care how they came across them."

Police continue to search for the second harp.
