Gresham police are still searching for an adult male suspect after a knife fight broke out near an apartment building in Rockwood on Saturday night.

Efrain Garcia, a 26-year-old Gresham resident, suffered a small cut on his hand and was treated at the scene by first responders, police say.

"We don't really know the reason for the fight. The victim wasn't overly cooperative," Officer Ben Costigan told The Outlook on Sunday. "We know it involved at least two people, and our Gang Enforcement Team is investigating."

Police responded to reports of a fight outside Rockwood Landing — an apartment complex at 19045 S.E. Yamhill St. — around 10:30 p.m. March 31. Garcia's attacker is described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s. He apparently fled the scene in a red sedan.

The 36-unit "farmworker community" apartment complex is operated by Home Forward, the area's public housing authority, according to its website.
