Gresham Library celebrates kids and books
Barlow celebrates 50th anniversary
Students, staff and alumni invite the community to join them at the 50th anniversary celebrations of Barlow High School.
On Friday, May 18, a gala dinner and silent auction kick off the two-day event in the Blackberry Hall at McMemamin's Edgefield, 2126 S.W. Halsey St., Troutdale. Tickets are $50 per person, and seats are limited. Reservations are required.
On Saturday, May 19, festivities move to the high school, 5105 S.E. 302d Ave., with an open house and tours from 2-3 p.m., followed by a program in the auditorium from 3-4:30 p.m. For more information, visit barlow50.org.
Día de los Niños y Día de los Libros! at Gresham Library
The Gresham Library will host a festive celebration of childhood and bilingual literacy from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 14. The free ¡Día de los Niños y Día de los Libros! event will feature music, face painting, crafts and more. Every child will get a free book to take home. Teens talk stereotypes, create art at library
In a free workshop from 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, teens can discuss the unhealthy stereotypes that seem to be dominating the national conversation, occupying high school hallways and finding their way into chats with friends and families. Facilitators and artists will lead teens in using photography and writing to shed labels that don't serve them and to claim their own truth. Gresham Library is at 385 N.W.
