Warner Allen claims prestigious Golden Whisk for his popular seafood bouillabaisse

Three former Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce presidents went toe-to-toe in a cookoff to see who could win the Golden Whisk award and reign supreme during the Chamber's Try Local First event Tuesday afternoon, April 24.

The event, held at Riegelmann's Appliance, 301 E. Powell Blvd., had the three master chefs prepare their best dishes for the delighted onlookers alongside their teams.

The culinary artists were Matt Miller, Gresham Sanitary Service Inc., Travis Stovall, The Stovall Group, and Warner Allen of Warren Allen LLP.

The winner of the honorary Golden Whisk was Allen, who wowed the group with his seafood bouillabaisse with fresh asparagus, homemade hollandaise sauce and garlic bread. The others were no slouches either.

Stovall whipped together Spanish meatballs with fresh salsa and guacamole, while Miller gave out made-to-order "island street tacos" with all the fixings.

The third-annual Golden Whisk cookoff for Try Local Tuesday continues a tradition that started with a battle of local car dealerships, and last year pitted generations against each other.
