52-year-old James Bitz was arrested Wednesday, May 9, after allegedly shooting at a neighbor

James Bitz, 52, was arrested Wednesday afternoon, May 9, and was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. He faces charges of first-degree attempted assault, unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 4, near the 100 block of Southeast Hogan Road. According to police, Bitz got into a physical altercation with his neighbor. As the adult man was driving away, Bitz reportedly shot at the car. The neighbor was not hit and later called police.

The Gresham Police Department thanks the community for its assistance in locating Bitz.
