Two arrested after fueling station robbery
Multnomah County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a man and a woman after they allegedly robbed the Troutdale Safeway fueling station late on Sunday, May 6.
Following a chase, deputies arrested Joshua Vaughn Miller, 36, and Sandra Dee Miller, 38, at about 3:30 a.m. on Monday, May 7. Both were lodged at Multnomah County Detention Center on outstanding warrants.
The incident occurred while employees were shutting down the station at 2521 Southwest Cherry Park Road for the night, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The suspects, who were said to be wearing masks and armed with a handgun and knife, took an undisclosed amount of money and fled in a vehicle.
Deputies attempted to pull a car over that matched a description of the fleeing vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 from Troutdale. While attempting to stop the vehicle, they lost sight of the car and started to search the area.
A deputy located an abandoned vehicle matching the description of the suspects' car on Southeast Bull Run Road in Clackamas County. Police searched the area with assistance from various law enforcement departments, and found both suspects about 20 yards from the road.
Police say both suspects fled into a heavily wooded area, and a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office K9 was used to track and find the suspects.
More charges may be filed later.
