The identity of the 87-year-old woman is being withheld until family is notified

An 87-year-old woman was hit and killed during a crash Tuesday evening, May 8, on Southeast Division Street.

The pedestrian, whose identity is being withheld until her family has been notified, was struck around 9:12 p.m. while crossing in the 16900 block of Division. The driver involved in the crash, 30-year-old George Walters Brackenbury, cooperated with investigators and remained at the scene.

Portland Police Bureau East Precinct and Traffic Division officers responded to the accident. The elderly pedestrian was suffering from traumatic injuries, and was transported to a Portland hospital where she later passed away.

The crash remains under investigation.
