U.S. News ranks Corbett High in state's top 10
Corbett High School was ranked the third-best public high school in Oregon by U.S. News & World Report, the only East Multnomah County high school in the magazine's Oregon top 10.
The magazine said Corbett has a graduation rate of 95 percent, and 100 percent of Corbett students take at least one rigorous, college-level Advanced Placement course. Centennial High School was ranked 26th best in Oregon and has an 83 percent graduation rate.
Schools are ranked based on their performance on state-required tests and how well they prepare students for college.
Woodburn Academy of Art, Science and Technology was ranked best in Oregon, followed by International School of Beaverton. They were the only two Oregon schools that ranked in the magazine's top 50 high schools nationwide.
RHS honors a dedicated volunteer
Susan Bowker, a volunteer at Reynolds High School, was saluted with the first Outstanding Service Award for Reynolds High. Bowker is the grandmother of a Reynolds student and was moved by the 2014 shooting at the high school.
During that summer she organized a campaign to give students and staff encouraging "Hope Cards." After that she became an official volunteer. She greets students and staff every morning and has even made cookies for construction workers during the remodel of the school.
