Arden L. Olson, 70, Gresham, and John E. Stewart, 76, Gresham, were both fatally injured in the crash Tuesday afternoon, June 5.

Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash around 3 p.m. near Southeast 302nd Avenue that occurred after a white van struck the side of a green Dodge, which was occupied by Olson and Stewart.

The two were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the van was uninjured and is cooperating with deputies.

The East County Vehicular Crimes Team is investigating the accident. Skid marks that begin at a nearby stop sign and end at the wreck could be from the Dodge speeding up before the crash, law enforcement said.

The roads were closed until about 8 p.m. on Tuesday as they investigated, but have since been reopened.
