MHCC recognized as military friendly
Mt. Hood Community College was named a military-friendly institution for its practices that cater to military personnel and veterans.
MHCC waives the admission application fee for military students and veterans, awards college credit for military training and experience and offers mentoring and onboarding support to new military students and veterans.
MHCC earned the designation for the 2018-19 school year by the Military Friendly School Survey.
MHCC is one of three community colleges statewide to make the 2018-19 list.
Earlier this year, the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs awarded a $60,720 two-year grant to the college to update the MHCC Veterans Resource Center with new furniture and computers, launch a new class for vets for life and career planning and hire a part-time outreach specialist for the department.
