Festival to turn downtown into gallery
Join thousands of community members this month for the 17th annual Gresham Arts Festival, a weekend dedicated to celebrating the arts and turning the city into one giant gallery.
Everything kicks off with Art Under the Stars on Friday night. There is a charitable silent auction to support Gresham Outdoor Public Art while people wine and dine along Main Avenue to the tune of live music.
The following morning downtown streets will be flooded with more than 150 painters, potters, sculptors, woodworkers, photographers and jewelers as they showcase and sell their pieces at the artists' market. The market will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Children and those young at heart can visit the Kids Village at the Center for the Arts Plaza to enjoy craft stations, the splash fountain, face painting and more. The city will also take part in the "Paint to Fame," which will be the world's largest paint party. At the Arts Plaza anyone can paint their own Gresham-scape with friends and family — keeping the canvas to take home.
Finally, the day will end with Gresham's Got Talent, a lineup of the best entertainers in East Multnomah County. The stage at the Arts Plaza will see the entrants competing for the title of most talented from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
