Generations Church is having a launch party at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, for its new weekly gatherings at Regal Cinemas, 2929 N.E. Kane Drive. During the launch, there will be special food and entertainment for children — from face painting to balloon creations.

The normal gatherings will be held every Sunday. There will be refreshments and coffee, friendly people, live music and a teaching centered on a biblical passage. There is a specialized ministry for children up to sixth grade, and dynamic youth leaders to connect with middle and high school kids.

"We are excited for the new venue and a chance to refresh our approach to ministry," said Pastor Demetrius Rogers.

The journey to holding service in front of the silver screen was a long one for Generations Church. It began as the Gresham Assembly in 1934 and met on Fourth Street for almost 40 years. They then purchased land along Highway 26 at Hillyard Street and built a new facility in 1972, changing the name to the Mount Hood Christian Center.

Most recently, the church was renamed to honor generations past as well as those to come. They sold the brick and mortar location to embrace becoming a mobile church.

Generations Church is eager to serve individuals, families and the community of Gresham. They value prayer and worship, learning the Bible, creativity and the arts and being warm and friends. To learn more, visit www.gen-church.com or find them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
