Man arrested after convenience store robbery
A man was arrested after brandishing a knife during an armed robbery early Monday morning, Oct. 29, at the Plaid Pantry, 16226 S.E. Division St.
Portland Police Bureau East Precinct officers responded to reports of the robbery at 1:18 a.m. The witness said that a man had fled the store after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash and other items, leaving in a yellow taxi.
Officers searched the area, discovering the cab near Southeast 136th Avenue and Division Street. The robbery suspect fled, but was discovered and arrested a few blocks away by a police canine unit.
Kelton V. Holmes, 33, is being held at the Multnomah County Jail facing a charge of first-degree robbery. He was treated by emergency medical personnel for a canine bite while being taken into custody.
The driver of the taxi cooperated with investigators, and there were no reports of injuries as a result of the robbery.
