From 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, visit Biscuits Café, 1905 N.E. Division St., and purchase one of their famous cinnamon rolls to support SnowCap Community Charities.

For every cinnamon roll sold that day, 100 percent of the sales will be donated to the annual Fill-A-Bag event, which is a significant fundraiser benefiting the local food pantry.

Biscuits co-owner David Ligatich says he has already presold 600 cinnamon rolls for that day. He anticipates he'll have another 250 on hand for walk-ins. In the event that the cinnamon rolls are sold out, Ligatich also has a supply of gift cards, which can be redeemed for the tasty pastry on another day.

While he's not promoting more advances orders, what he needs now is for people who don't have an advance order to make plans to visit the restaurant on Nov. 9.

"We need people to come in and maybe have breakfast and to purchase a cinnamon roll while they're here," Ligatich said.

The Fill-A-Bag event is spearheaded by Riverview Community Bank and Gresham Ford, bringing local businesses and individuals together in a series of events that raise money for SnowCap.

SnowCap provides food, clothing, advocacy and other services to community members who are living on low incomes. SnowCap serves an area that encompasses Gresham, East Portland, Troutdale, Fairview and Wood Village.

The food pantry, at 17788 S.E. Pine St. in Rockwood, serves more than 9,000 people every month.

As winter nears, more families rely on the services SnowCap provides, which inevitably results in the food pantry running low. That underscores the importance of Fill-A-Bag, and attending events like the cinnamon roll sale at Biscuits.

If you can't make it to Biscuits on Nov. 9, there is plenty more on the Fill-A-Bag schedule. On Nov. 14-15 MetroEast Community Media's Holiday Showcase will support SnowCap, as will the Spirit of Christmas celebration in downtown Gresham on Nov. 24.

The Outlook will provide advance information on these and other Fill-A-Bag events throughout the campaign.
