Early returns are showing that Voruz leading for Position 5 in Tuesday, Nov. 6, election.

Voruz is leading Jones by 1,199 to 754 votes, according to early election returns released shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

"I just stand beside my voice on safety for my community. So public safety remains my number one priority, and I wish Ed Jones well," Voruz said. "I hope Fairview voters continue to have faith in me."

Voruz has received 61 percent of the vote while Jones has received 38 percent. Jones had not looked at the results yet when he was contacted by The Outlook.

"I think, ultimately regardless of who wins, they'll have someone who cares deeply for Fairview," Jones said.

Voruz has served on the council since 2015.

Jones has served on the Fairview Planning Commission since 2005.
