Gresham singers join regional choirs
Seventeen singers from the Gresham High School choir were selected to participate in two regional honor choirs.
"We had a fantastic amount of students make it into All Northwest or All State choir," said Janine Kirstein, Gresham High School Choir teacher.
Nine singers from Gresham High were selected for the 2019 All Northwest Honor Choir by the National Association for Music Education and eight students were selected by the Oregon Music Educators Association for the 2019 All State Honor Choir.
"These students are chosen through audition by a committee. If they were selected for All Northwest they were not eligible for All State. The Northwest choir is chosen from auditions submitted by students from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska," Kirstein said.
The Northwest choir will include: Josh Barcroft-Tenor 1, Kayle Berlinger-Soprano 2, Adam Carsner-Baritone, Chloe Hallberg-Soprano 2, Ashley Harris-Soprano 2, Connor Henkle-Baritone, Laurel O'Brien-Alto 2, Abbie Soulagnet-Alto 1 and Tess Wix- Soprano 1.
The All State choir will include: Skyler Bolster-Baritone, Caitlyn Carnahan-Alto 2, Keegan Cereghino-Baritone, Brodie Joseph-Bass 2, Colton Juilfs-Bass 2, Savannah Springer-Soprano 1, Naomi Thompson-Alto 1 and Andrew Walton-Tenor 2.
The music association convention and the student performances run from Feb. 14-17, 2019 in Portland.
