Buy a 'manikin' calendar and help MHCC nursing program, hear stories at Maggie Mae's

The Mt. Hood Community College nursing program created a 16-month "simulation calendar" featuring funny scenes with medical education dummies, staff and students.

Funds generated from the calendar will be used to buy medical simulation supplies for the nursing program.

The calendars are $15 and are available at the college store, room AC1261 on the main campus, 26000 S.E. Stark St. or online at mhcc.edu/SimLab.

Learn to make origami swans

Eileen Holzman will read the classic story of the Ugly Duckling and then will teach children and their caregivers how to make origami swans.

The free event starts at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6. Supplies will be provided. Maggie Mae's Kids Bookshop, 43 N.W. Third St.

MHCC seeks foreign student host families

Mt. Hood Community College is seeking host families for 14 students ages 18-24 from Ryukoku University, Kyoto, Japan, who will study at the college and live in the Gresham area in February and March, 2019.

Host families will receive a stipend to help defray costs. Host families must pass a criminal background check. There are other requirements for host families, described on the web page at mhcc.edu/JapaneseExchange/.

Cha Cha performs at Maggie Mae's

Hear some stories and then Cha Cha, everyone's favorite clown, will perform at Maggie Mae's Kids Bookshop, 43 N.W. Third St.

The free event starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.
