Popular rural post office reopens
Following a monthlong closure, the Bridal Veil Post Office reopened Monday Jan. 28.
The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) said the office has reopened for business during its regular hours Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
USPS shut down the small, 13 by 14 square foot Post Office after it was broken into last Christmas Eve.
The post office is a popular place for betrothed couples to send wedding invitations because of its Bridal Veil postmarks that include the words "Marriage Station" and a choice of two interlocking hearts or interlocking doves.
During the closure, all mail was forwarded to the Corbett Post Office, 36046 E. Historic Columbia River Highway, Corbett.
Minutes after the break in, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Deputies searched the building and found no one inside.
A K9 unit was called to track down suspects, but the dog was unable to locate anyone. Police still have no suspects in the case.
