National Weather service forecasting slick roads and snow for this weekend in Gresham

The National Weather Service is predicting a rain and snow mix for the Gresham area starting Friday, Feb. 8.

Any snowfall on Friday is not expected to stick on the ground during the day, but one to two inches could accumulate overnight and into early Saturday morning.

Daytime temperatures are expected to rise throughout the day Saturday, reaching a high of 38 degrees. The warming temperature could start melting any snow, and rain is likely.

Wet or slushy roadways are expected to freeze overnight Saturday with the temperature forecast to hit a low of 26 degrees. Roadways could remain frozen on Sunday.

Sunday's high temperature is predicted at 36 degrees with a low of 29 degrees. The National Weather Service is forecasting more snow on Sunday, but less than half an inch accumulation is expected.

The cold air mass bringing the white powder has the potential to stick around well into next week with the possibility of more snow accumulation.

The Gresham area received its first snow of the year on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The slick weather closed all East Multnomah County Schools while local government services stayed open.
