East Multnomah County resident plans to supplement his retirement with loot

A Fairview resident will receive $1,000 each week for the rest of his life after winning Oregon Lottery's "Win for Life" raffle.

Robert East matched all four numbers in the Monday, Feb. 11, drawing. He purchased the ticket at CJ's Pub on Sandy Boulevard in Fairview. East is a regular player of Lottery games and surprised to find he had won a jackpot prize.

"I was at home and Googled the results from my phone," he said. "I looked at the ticket again, checked the date and double-checked it. Then I immediately called my best friend."

East returned to CJ's store to scan the ticket to confirm it really was a big winner.

"I recently retired, so this is going to help me relax in retirement," he said. "I have limited income so this will make me more comfortable."

CJ's Pub will receive a $13,000 bonus of for selling the winning ticket.

Pub owner Chris Taylor said the bonus money will be invested into his bar.

"We need some (heating and air conditioning) work and will get new chairs," Taylor said. "It's all going back into the business."

Taylor has a number of regulars who will be thrilled that the winning ticket was purchased at CJ's Pub.

"I think my wife might have sold the ticket," he said. "It's just tremendous. It boosts you and makes you want to work harder, and continue to grow our business."
