The suspect broke windows to gain access to the victim's house and the suspect attempted to steal a purse.

A Troutdale woman is safe after she hid in her bedroom during a robbery on Monday, Feb. 18 at her home in the 2400 block S.W. McGinnis Avenue, Troutdale.

Rene Garza, 24, allegedly broke the windows to to home and attempted to steal the resident's purse, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday, Feb. 19 by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office. The victim locked herself in her room and called 911, and waited for Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies to arrive.

Deputies responded and found Garza still at the home. Garza was arrested Feb. 18, and he is charged with burglary and criminal mischief. 

Garza and the victim do not know each other.
