Rob Saxton to reveal his evaluation of the district at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, weather permitting

OUTLOOK FILE PHOTO - Corbett Middle SchoolAfter rescheduling a key Corbett School District board meeting multiple times because of inclement weather, consultant Rob Saxton is scheduled to present findings from his five-month independent review of the district at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the Corbett Schools multi-purpose building, 35800 E. Historic Columbia River Highway.

If weather closes school Wednesday or conditions unsafe that evening, the meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7. If wintry weather scrubs both dates, a new date will be set for later this month.

The National Weather Service calls for a winter weather advisory for the Corbett-Bridal Veil area Wednesday evening, with a snow that morning expected to turn to rain with a high near 40 degrees and a low near 31. Thursday calls for more rain and snow mix with a change to all rain in the afternoon with a high of 42 degrees. Rain could change to snow in the evening with a low of 32.

A community group called for Saxton's evaluation on district finances, programming and quality. It will also evaluate whether the district should become a charter district, which the district has proposed. About half of Corbett's students do not live inside district boundaries, and the law that allowed them to attend Corbett schools has expired. Becoming a charter would allow those students to stay in Corbett schools.

If the school board holds its meeting March 6 or 7, the community group will hold a meeting for additional discussion of the report at 7 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Corbett Community Church, 34309 N.E. Mershon Road. The community meeting will be rescheduled if a school board meeting is not held Wednesday or Thursday.

Saxton's report will be available at
