Trail advocacy organization stations volunteers at popular trailheads during busy weekends

Friends of the Columbia Gorge is seeking volunteer trailhead ambassadors.

The trail advocacy organization stations volunteers at popular trailheads during busy weekends in the Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood areas. The ambassadors educate hikers on leave-no-trace principles, give trail safety tips and highlight other nearby recreational opportunities.

Volunteers are required to attend a four-hour training session.

Trainings will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays: April 6, Cascade Locks Pavilion, 395 S.W. Portage Road, Cascade Locks; April 13, at KEEN Headquarters, 505 N.W. 13th Ave., Portland; and May 11, at the Community Church of Sandy, 39290 Scenic St., Sandy.
