The Catalyst Site will include a central plaza, market hall, play structures

PMG FILE PHOTO - A rendering of the Rockwood Rising Catalyst Site, which could be completed by 2021.The timeline for the Rockwood Rising project has been updated after a Gresham Redevelopment Commission meeting Tuesday afternoon, March 19, meaning the project could break ground in the next month.

Rockwood Rising is a planned construction that would bring needed services into the heart of the Rockwood neighborhood.

The Catalyst Site, located between Southeast Stark Street, 185th Avenue and East Burnside Street, will be a central square with a public plaza and play structures for children, an innovation hub with services for local residents, retail stores, apartments and a market hall with foods from the many cultures represented in the community.

The project groundbreaking has been delayed several times, at one point being planned in the spring of 2018. Now it is supposed to happen in April, with construction being completed in early 2021.
