The day will also feature races for kids and a 'bling your rain boots' contest.

The community is invited to lace up their running shoes and support local homeless families in crisis during a fun event this weekend.

Run for Shelter is the premiere fundraiser for My Father's House — an event headlined by a run/walk down a scenic, closed road in Boring.

The 2.2 mile round-trip course is perfect for all ages and fitness levels. Run for Shelter is about being active as a family for a great cause. The day will also have races for kids and a "bling your rain boots" contest. There will also be food, prizes, medals and goodie bags for everyone who participates.

Every dollar raised during the event goes to support homeless families. The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 6, rain or shine.

Tickets are $25 for individuals or $40 for families or groups of 4. Each additional member of a group is $5 more.

Get tickets at run or call Sara at 503-492-3046, ext. 224, with any questions.

The event is sponsored by Gresham Ford, Legacy Health Mount Hood Medical Center, Stonecreek Development, LLC, Apollo Drain, Real Estate Performance Group, Wolcott, and Burns Feed Store.
