MHCC committee plans to approve budget

The Mt. Hood Community College District budget committee, will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, and is scheduled to approve the college budget for the upcoming school year.

The meeting will be held in the Board Room, AC 2359, at 26000 S.E. Stark St. The college recently said it will raise tuition 8% starting with the summer term and that it will cut spending by $1.7 million in each of the next two years.

See paintings and other stunning art produced by students in the Gresham area. Mt. Hood Community College will host the Regional High School Art Exhibit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, through May 1.

The works will be hung in the MHCC Visual Arts Gallery, 26000 S.E. Stark St. The gallery is free. Meet the talented artists at a reception from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, including an awards ceremony at 7 p.m.

Kids' radio debuts

The classical music public radio station, All Classical Portland, announced a new radio network designed for kiddos from birth to age 12.

The new station, called International Children's Art Network (ICAN), will go live starting Monday, April 15. ICAN will feature music, poems and literature from around the world. It will be a 24-hour service and All Classical said it is the first of its kind in the U.S.

"From lullaby hour and story time, to programming that will introduce various languages, ICAN is a nurturing, cultural, audio playground for youth in the Pacific Northwest and around the world," the announcement said.
